Come as you are, but be ready to leave who you were.

The purpose of Jesus Christ suffering and dying on the cross for our sins was to save us from the consequences of our sins which is eternal death in Hell (separation from God). Through His death we've been given salvation (a free gift)  and eternal life in Heaven (our forever home with God). This happens when we acknowledge that we are sinners, accept Him as our Lord and Savior and most importantly make a daily commitment to live a life of repentance.

In saying that, a lot of times "Come as you are" can be heavily misinterpreted. It doesn't mean that we come as we are and stay the same. This helps us in understanding that we don't have to clean ourselves up first before coming to God. His love for us through His Son Jesus Christ is so great that He will always welcome us with open arms. At the same time, once we are in His hands, God will challenge us through application of His Word and conviction through the Holy Spirit to bring transformation.

God didn't allow His Son to die on the cross for our sins just to give us a free pass to abuse His grace and stay in the very sins He died for. At that point, His death was unnecessary. This is why it's important that we continuously starve our flesh and feed our spirit!

I encourage you to go to God with an open heart and mind and in that same openness but be ready to accept your true identity through Him and do your part in living in that identity.

(Read 2 Corinthians 5:14-21)

I love you and most importantly, Jesus loves you more! John 3:16 ♡
